The Sophistocrats

Old-fashioned souls with offbeat ideas; The Sophistocrats’ vibrant performance will leave you feeling free, empowered and ready to step outside your beloved comfort zone. They have an eclectic style, heavily influenced by Alternative R&B and Indie Pop. Their sound reflects the mixture of a soulful and spunky front-woman with a tasteful Fusion Funk trio. The lead vocalist sings in English, French and Spanish. Her background in cultural anthropology informs the themes discussed in their songs, like the honeymoon phase, narcissism, expectations, authenticity, balance and self-cultivation. Their music is danceable and their storytelling relatable. Each of these sophisticated cool cats adds his own flavour to the band.

Vocals, Keyboard // Sophie MP

Clin d'oeil Art: Since she doesn't have classical training in music, Sophie mp couldn't imagine making a living with her passion. She studied anthropology and traveled to Guatemala where she started playing music. She decided to go back to school and study music at Selkirk College in Nelson. She is now ready to take the canadian indie music scene by storm.
